I'm not rushing summertime, but......

I could not be more excited for the weather to cool down because that means Grove time is approaching and the crisp air will give us an excuse to utilize the outdoor oasis we have created.  The perfect fall evening would include family, friends, wine, and a fire in our back yard pit....

The chandelier would be lit for a little extra lighting as the sun sets, glasses would be full, smiles
would be on every face, dinner would be on the grill and s'mores would be roasting.....I get excited just thinking about it!!

And as always.....the Colonel would be there to supervise :)

We are soo excited to officially be using local grits....stone ground here in the lovely Oxford, MS.  They are sooo delicious and you can really tell a difference from the regular store bought ones.  Grits, grits, grits....yummmm! Vermont White Cheddar is The Z's favorite cheese to add the most ooey, gooey goodness!!!

Missing home....

One thing I miss about Houston is the huge fig tree we have in our backyard but luckily I have a friend here who was kind enough to let me pick some figs off their tree...

fresh

dried

preserves

I had so many that I decided to save some to eat fresh, dry some out in the hottt Oxford sun, and make some fig preserves for the guests at The Z to enjoy on homemade buttermilk biscuits....Mmmmm :)

Homemade Tomato Sauce

I had too many tomatoes from the garden so I decided to make a homemade sauce.....it is still simmering but I am sure it is going to be delicious once it is finished!! And to make it even better I will top it with fresh basil from the garden and maybe throw in a sprig of rosemary....yummmmm!!!!
